Vespera Ensemble

I auditioned for a girl-group mid-March thinking it was a small choir: 20+ gals with an interest in 20th & 21st century music. Sounded good. The website asked for ‘accomplished singers’ to audition for the: Vespera Ensemble.

Good thing I missed that part or I might not have tried out.
Good think I never heard them perform before or I might not have tried out.

Well, can these girls sing! Get this: including me, there are 8 of us! When they say small, they mean small. But that was a pleasant surprise for me. I was used to singing in a group of 4 gals: Solera in Ottawa, so 8 was just right.

Truly, I am merely one of the back-up singers. When these girls do a lead bit, wow, I get goosebumps. Now I’m excited that I’m in a musical group and am in way over my head. It’ll make me work even harder.

The program is all sacred music but that’s just this concert — next time will include other stuff. Bonus: sacred includes gospel. Rock on.

Vespera performs on Wednesday April 25th at 8pm at the Latvian Hall in Toronto, ON
